Your notes stay yours

Privacy Policy

Orange Cat is designed as a private, focused place to write. This policy explains how the macOS app and this website handle information.

01

Overview

Orange Cat does not require an account. The current version does not include advertising, analytics, or tracking, and it does not sell personal information.

01No account

Start writing without creating a profile.

02Local notes

Your note content and revisions stay on your Mac.

03No tracking

No advertising SDKs or behavioral profiles.

02

Data in the app

Orange Cat stores the information needed to provide its note-taking features locally on your Mac. This includes:

  • Markdown note content and note titles derived from that content;
  • revision history, including automatic and manual revisions;
  • app preferences such as appearance, Markdown font, grouping, and view mode.

This information is used only to provide the app’s functions on your device. The current version does not transmit your notes or revision history to the developer and does not include iCloud sync.

03

Website data

This website is a static product website. It does not set advertising cookies, run analytics, or collect information through forms. Standard technical logs may still be created by the hosting provider when your browser requests a page, such as an IP address, browser type, and request time. Those logs are controlled by the hosting provider and may be used for security and reliable delivery.

04

Exports, retention, and deletion

When you export a note as a .md file, you choose where the file is saved. Once exported, that copy is managed by you and by any storage service you choose.

Your notes and revisions remain on your Mac until you delete them or remove the app’s data. Copies may remain in device backups according to your macOS and backup settings.

05

Security and third parties

Keeping data on-device limits unnecessary transmission, but no storage method can guarantee absolute security. Protect your Mac with a password, current system updates, and the security tools provided by macOS.

If you export a note, follow a link, or use a third-party service with that file, the third party’s own privacy policy applies.

06

Children’s privacy

Orange Cat is a general-purpose writing tool and is not directed specifically to children. Because the app does not require an account or collect note content, the developer does not knowingly collect personal information from children through the app.

07

Changes to this policy

This policy may be updated when Orange Cat’s features or data practices change. The effective date at the top of this page will be revised when an update is published.
